Sporting NJ Soccer Academy has announced an official partnership with FC Motown, a semi-professional Men’s soccer team based out of Morristown, NJ. FC Motown is one of the top open men’s semi-pro teams in the Tri-state area. Scott Kindzierski and Dan Karosen, current owners and team managers of FC MOTOWN, have put together a skill-packed squad that continues to gain recognition.
ABOUT FC MOTOWN
FC Motown competes in the Garden State Soccer League Super Premier Division and have held the #1 spot for the past 4 years. They also compete in the NJ Men’s Open State Cup, the 2 USASA Open Men’s National Cups, and have qualified and already advanced to the 2nd round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup!
In 2016, FC MOTOWN lost in the Regional Finals of the USASA Werner Fricker National Cup, which left them 2 games away from the National Championship. No team from New Jersey has made it this far in the National Cup in over 30 years. The Lamar Hunt US Open Cup is America’s oldest running and most prestigious soccer tournament hosting many semi professional teams and all 3 of the USA’s professional divisions of soccer including the MLS.
THE PLAYERS OF FC MOTOWN
FC MOTOWN is home to some of the best local soccer players in the Tri-state area with many players growing up right here in Northern NJ, as well as players coming from various countries in South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe. FC MOTOWN is a complete melting pot of nationalities and backgrounds ranging from standout former NCAA college players, NPSL, USL, NASL, and former Pros from all over the world. Many of FC MOTOWN’s current and former players have signed pro contracts with teams and leagues all over the world. Recently, FC MOTOWN had the pleasure of hosting the U-20 Ecuadorian National Team in a friendly match on Sept. 19th at Central Park in Morris Plains, NJ. Although MOTOWN fell 4-1 to the Ecuadorians, it was an amazing experience for all the players as they prepare for the next qualifying round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
WHAT THE PARTNERSHIP MEANS FOR OUR SOCCER TRAINING SERVICES
Going forward, Sporting NJ Soccer Academy will utilize the players of FC MOTOWN as trainers for their youth programs. This will allow NJ youth soccer players and teams training with Sporting NJ to experience top class coaching from some of the most experienced soccer minds in the Tri-state area.
Sporting NJ offers team training, one on one training, small group training, and goalie training year round. Stay tuned as Summer 2017 will be sure to bring youth summer soccer camps to the Northern NJ area. This partnership is a big step for us at Sporting NJ’s as continue to innovate and evolve the game of soccer for NJ’s youth community.
THE RELATIONSHIP
Sporting NJ Soccer Academy’s VP and Director of Training Gregory Pompei has been a player with FC MOTOWN for the past 2 seasons. Along with being on the roster as a player for the 2017/2018 season, he along with Sacir Hot were both recently named as a co-coaches to help in the growth and preparation of the team as they compete in the various NJ and National Cups.Sacir Hot is a former member of the US U-20 Men’s National Team and former MLS NY Red Bulls Pro Player . Pompei’s extensive coaching history and experience, along with Hot’s prestigious high level playing career, will help FC MOTOWN reach new heights as a team and continue its path toward gaining national recognition. The most important focus of this team in 2016/2017 is competing in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
